There’s something so sacred about the beginning of a new month…
a fresh page, a new season, a soft invitation to begin again.
And for me, April starts not with pressure…but with play.
It starts with creating my junk journal kit.
Not just a journal…but a little basket of creative possibility.
Why I Create a Monthly Journal Kit
Before I even begin journaling, I take time to gather:
3 colours – my palette for the month
3 textures – papers that feel good in my hands
1 focal theme – maybe butterflies, horses, wildflowers
Words & phrases – the energy I want to call in
And I place it all together… like a little creative garden I can return to daily.
Because here’s the truth…
When you sit down to create and think "I don’t know where to start…"
That’s not lack of creativity.
That’s decision fatigue.
The Magic of Removing Decision Fatigue
This is why I love this practice so much.
Each day, when I sit down for my Find Your 15…
I don’t overthink.
I don’t scroll.
I don’t freeze.
I simply reach into my kit and ask:
What wants to be used today?
And just like that… I begin.
A Journal That Feels Cohesive & Calm
By choosing your colours and textures ahead of time, something beautiful happens…
Your journal starts to feel:
✨ Cohesive
✨ Intentional
✨ Grounded
Like a garden where everything belongs.
No more random overwhelm.
Just gentle, flowing creativity.
Expanding Your Creativity (Without Pressure)
One of my favourite parts?
I always add a few things I wouldn’t normally use.
Maybe a texture that feels unfamiliar…
A colour I don’t usually pick…
A focal I’m curious about…
Because creativity grows when we gently ask:
“What would happen if I tried this?”
And suddenly your journal becomes a space of exploration, not perfection.
Your April Invitation
This week, I invite you to create your own:
April Junk Journal Kit
Keep it simple.
Keep it soulful.
Then each day…
come back for your Find Your 15
Pull one piece.
Create one page.
Take one breath.
Because this isn’t about doing more…
It’s about creating space to bloom.
If you’ve been waiting for a sign to begin… this is it.
Start your April journal today and see what unfolds.
