Girls’ Day & Mother Daughter Day Ideas | The Wildflower Field

Maybe you don’t need another lunch date.
Maybe you need somewhere you can drink coffee, wander through flowers, make something, laugh together and actually have time to catch up.
There’s a message that seems to live permanently in our phones:
“We really need to catch up!”
Followed by:
“Yes!!! Let’s organise something.”
And then...
nothing.
Three weeks later:
“We STILL need to catch up.”
Because life is busy.
There are children.
Work.
Businesses.
Appointments.
Families.
Horses.
Sport.
Things that need doing.
And sometimes spending time with the people we love becomes something we keep meaning to fit in.
That’s one of the reasons I love what The Wildflower Field is becoming.
It gives us somewhere to say:
“Let’s actually go.”
Not because there’s a birthday.
Not because it’s Mother’s Day.
Not because somebody organised an event six months ago.
Simply because spending time together is reason enough.
We don’t always need another lunch
Now...
I LOVE lunch.
Coffee and cake also rank very highly in my list of favourite activities.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with meeting someone at a café and talking for two hours.
But sometimes it’s lovely to have something else to do together.
Something that makes the day feel a little different.
Maybe you wander through flowers.
Choose something from the Creative Bar.
Make a journal page.
Try a Wildflower Lesson.
Join a workshop.
Have something delicious.
Sit outside.
Take photos.
Explore.
Laugh.
Stay longer than you planned.
The activity doesn't have to dominate the day.
It simply gives you something to experience together.
The best catch-ups don't always happen sitting opposite each other
There's something I've noticed about conversation.
Sometimes it's easier when you're doing something.
Think about the conversations you've had while:
Driving.
Walking.
Cooking.
Gardening.
Creating.
Sitting beside someone rather than directly opposite them.
Our hands are occupied.
There's less pressure.
Conversation wanders.
One topic becomes another.
Someone says:
“Oh! I meant to tell you...”
And suddenly you're talking about something completely different.
That's what I love about creativity around the Gathering Table.
The art doesn't need to be the centre of attention.
Sometimes it simply gives us a reason to sit together long enough for connection to happen.
Bring your girlfriends
Imagine this.
You've finally managed to get three or four of you available on the same day.
A minor miracle.
You head out to The Wildflower Field.
Coffee first at Gather & Graze.
Obviously.
Something delicious.
A wander through the flowers.
Then somebody spots the Creative Bar.
“Should we do one?”
Next minute you're around the Gathering Table.
One friend has gone completely rogue with the supplies.
Someone else is taking it extremely seriously.
One claims she isn't creative while making something better than everybody else's.
You're talking.
Making.
Ordering another coffee.
And for a little while, nobody is rushing anywhere.
That's my kind of girls' day.
Or bring Mum
There is something special about spending time with our mums when we're both adults.
Not organising something.
Not solving a family problem.
Not racing through the shops.
Just...
being together.
Maybe Mum loves flowers.
Perhaps she journals.
Maybe she hasn't made anything since she was at school.
Maybe neither of you considers yourself creative.
Perfect.
Come anyway.
Coffee.
Flowers.
A little wander.
Something creative if it catches your eye.
And time.
Because sometimes the most precious part of the day isn't what you did.
It's simply that you made the time to do it together.
Or bring your daughter
This is one of the experiences I particularly want to grow in The Wildflower Field.
Mother + daughter time.
And that doesn't only mean little daughters.
Your daughter might be seven.
Seventeen.
Thirty-seven.
Fifty-seven.
You're still Mum and daughter.
Maybe you come for a Little Wildflower experience.
Maybe you make journals together.
Pick flowers.
Join a workshop.
Create around the Gathering Table.
Have coffee.
Or come to one of our special mother + daughter Gatherings.
There is something beautiful about different generations making things beside one another.
And perhaps even more beautiful when Mum resists the urge to say:
“Are you sure you want to put that there?”
Let her wildflower grow where she wants.
Grandmothers and grandchildren belong here too
Actually, let's widen this even further.
Grandmother + granddaughter.
Grandmother + grandson.
Aunties.
Sisters.
Cousins.
Friends who feel like family.
The Wildflower Field isn't interested in whether your relationship fits neatly onto an event poster.
Bring your people.
The ones you want more memories with.
And you don't have to bring anyone
This matters too.
Because sometimes seeing:
Girls' Day!
Mother + Daughter!
Gather Your Friends!
can accidentally make the person without someone available feel like the experience isn't for them.
It is.
Come alone.
Bring your journal.
Order coffee.
Explore the Creative Bar.
Sit amongst the flowers.
Join a workshop.
Book one seat at a Gathering.
You don't need to arrive with a ready-made group to belong.
In fact, one of the things I hope happens here is that people who arrive alone occasionally leave having talked to someone they didn't know before.
Gathering can begin with one.
What would we actually DO?
This is the question, isn't it?
And the answer will change depending on the day and season.
Your visit might include:
Gather & Graze — coffee, cookies, grazing and something delicious.
The Creative Bar — choose something that catches your curiosity.
The Gathering Table — sit, create and talk.
Wildflower Lessons — try a small creative technique without needing an art class.
The flower field — wander, notice what's blooming and enjoy being outside.
Workshops — book something you both want to learn or make.
Field Days — come and experience what's happening across the Wildflower world.
Gatherings — special reasons to come together.
Little Wildflowers — playful creative and nature experiences for smaller visitors.
And over time, there will be different seasonal reasons to return.
You don't need to do everything.
Choose what sounds good.
You don't have to be creative
There it is again.
I know somebody in your group is already thinking:
“This sounds like Jodie's thing. I'm not arty.”
Bring her.
She can have coffee.
Seriously.
Nobody is going to force a paintbrush into her hand.
But this is also exactly why our everyday creativity is designed to feel approachable.
The Wildflower Lessons aren't about producing identical artwork.
The Creative Bar isn't an exam.
You can sit beside your creative friend and make something completely different.
Or watch.
Or wander.
Or talk.
There is no compulsory creativity policy at the gate.
What if we want something more organised?
Then watch our calendar.
This is where our Workshops and Gatherings come in.
Sometimes you don't want to organise the day yourself.
You want to see something and think:
“THIS. Let's book this.”
Perfect.
We'll be growing experiences around creativity, flowers, food, journaling, seasonal making, guest makers, mother + daughter time and whatever else finds its way into the
Wildflower garden.
Some will teach you something.
Some will simply be beautiful experiences.
Some might last a couple of hours.
Some may become half-day experiences.
The important bit?
You book.
You turn up.
We create the experience around you.
Sometimes the occasion can simply be the Gathering
We're very good at waiting for a reason.
A birthday.
Mother's Day.
Christmas.
Someone leaving.
Someone arriving.
What if:
“We haven't seen each other enough lately”
was the reason?
Or:
“We've had a huge month.”
“The flowers are blooming.”
“Mum would love this.”
“The kids are at Grandma's.”
“We just want to.”
You don't need to wait for life's big milestones to make memories.
Ordinary days deserve some attention too.
And then there'll be those special evenings...
This is another side of The Wildflower Field I can't wait to see grow.
The sun starts dropping.
The flowers look completely different in the evening light.
Perhaps Thelma opens.
There's food.
Something lovely to drink.
Maybe a fire.
Music.
Friends.
Conversation.
A sunset Gathering.
The kind of evening where someone looks around and says:
“We should do this more often.”
Yes.
That's exactly the point.
And perhaps one day you want something deeper
Maybe you've visited the Field a few times.
You've created together.
Had coffee.
Come to a Gathering.
And then you see a retreat or a Wildflower Soul Sanctuary experience.
Something about it catches both of you.
Perhaps you'd like a whole morning rather than an hour.
More quiet.
Journaling.
Meditation.
Sound.
Creative reflection.
Nature.
Maybe a Wildflower Connection experience with the horses.
That path is there too.
But it isn't where everybody needs to go.
The Wildflower Field can hold both:
“Let's make something and have coffee.”
and
“I think I need a day to slow down.”
Different days.
Different needs.
Same garden.
Shared experiences become stories
This is the part I think we sometimes underestimate.
Things are lovely.
But experiences become stories.
Remember when Mum got paint everywhere?
Remember the flower field that morning?
Remember when we tried that workshop?
Remember when yours went completely wrong?
Remember that sunset?
Remember how we stayed for hours?
Those little moments weave themselves into relationships.
And often they're the things we talk about years later.
That's what I want The Wildflower Field to give people.
Not just things to buy.
Things to remember.
The Wildflower Method isn't only about connecting with yourself
We've talked a lot about the Wildflower Method as creating space to slow down, notice, create and reconnect.
But reconnection isn't always solitary.
Sometimes we find ourselves again through the people who know us best.
A friend who makes us laugh.
Our daughter.
Our mum.
Our sister.
Someone who remembers who we were before life became quite so busy.
Gathering is part of the Method too.
Because connection matters.
With ourselves.
With nature.
With animals.
And with each other.
So next time you type “we should catch up...”
Finish the sentence.
Don't leave it floating in Messenger for another three months.
Choose a day.
Put it in the calendar.
You don't even have to know exactly what you're doing yet.
And when The Wildflower Field opens its gates, perhaps you simply say:
“Let's go there.”
Start with coffee.
Wander.
See what's blooming.
Choose something creative if you feel like it.
Stay awhile.
Or find one of our upcoming Gatherings and book it before everyone gets busy again.
Because you don't need a special occasion to spend time with people you love.
Spending time together is the occasion.
Your invitation
Who came to mind while you were reading this?
Mum?
Your daughter?
Your sister?
Your best friend?
The friend you haven't seen for six months even though you both keep promising to organise something?
Send this to her.
Then do the radical thing:
Pick a date.
When The Wildflower Field is ready, we'll give you plenty of beautiful reasons to use it.
Coffee.
Flowers.
Creativity.
Workshops.
Gatherings.
Field Days.
Sunset experiences.
And enough space to sit around the table and remember why you wanted to catch up in the first place.
Send this to someone you'd love to bring to The Wildflower Field, choose a day, and follow along for upcoming Gatherings, workshops and Field Days you can experience together.
Gather • Create • Connect
Don't wait for an occasion. Gather because you can.
